Travel sites look to Europe for sales boost

European bookings through major travel Web sites such as Expedia, Priceline and Travelocity increased 30% in Europe last year, while U.S. bookings stalled. Priceline made international inroads by purchasing two European hotel reservation sites for nearly $300 million, while Expedia has developed a foreign presence organically by launching 13 Expedia-branded Web sites in Europe.
