Missouri eyes public-private mix for state broadband net

Missouri officials expressed plans this week to build a statewide fiber-based broadband network by 2014, subsidized largely by stimulus funds mixed with support from businesses and other private groups. The state will seek to establish partnerships with companies that have fiber-optic and broadband-deployment experience, said a spokesman for Gov. Jay Nixon.
