SEC official resigns as agency continues to evolve

Lori Richards, head of the examinations division at the Securities and Exchange Commission, is stepping down. The agency has come under increasing pressure for missing instances of fraud. Richards' division reviews the books of brokerage firms, hedge fund managers, investment advisers and other financial firms. Since Mary Schapiro took over as chairwoman of the SEC in January, the agency has undergone a series of management changes.
