Study to use PET, radiotracer to diagnose Alzheimer's disease

A neurologist at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach is undertaking a clinical trial to evaluate if a PET scan using the florpiramine tracer attached to a radioactive isotope will be effective in detecting amyloid brain plaques linked to Alzheimer's disease. The initiative will involve 150 patients in 10 U.S. hospitals.
