Are AT&T, T-Mobile in a chess match with the first Galaxy S release?

With five carriers set to market Samsung's Android-based Galaxy S smartphones, AT&T apparently took the initiative Thursday by indicating it will begin selling the $199 Captivate on July 18, three days before T-Mobile USA's planned release of the Vibrant. But Internet sources say T-Mobile might move up its ship date to Thursday -- not necessarily to outdo AT&T -- but to match Verizon Wireless' planned release of the much-hyped Droid X device.
