Batali's Eataly opening is pushed back to late summer

Construction delays and licensing red tape have pushed back the opening of Eataly, the $20 million brainchild of celebrity chef Mario Batali and partner Joe Bastianich, until late August. When it opens, the 42,500-square-foot Manhattan marketplace will employ about 300 people and boast seven restaurants and retail shops selling gourmet Italian food with a focus on local ingredients.
