Scholes: Summer consumer travel is being watched closely

The hotel sector is watching closely to see if leisure-consumer travel will return this summer, says Patrick Scholes, lodging analyst with FBR Capital Markets. "That is what we are looking for -- if it doesn't return, it would be a big concern," he said. So far, all signs point to the lodging sector having turned the corner. About a month ago, revenue per available room began moving into positive territory. Also in February and March, hotel REITs started to get their pricing power back, Scholes says.
