To offer feedback that is received by employees as more positive, focus on the worker's strengths -- and how those attributes can be applied to areas where they may be lacking, Tanveer Naseer writes. Also, allow the worker to offer input even after the initial conversation ends. Remember that the employee needs "some time to reflect and digest the information they were just given before they can offer their response to it," he writes.
