Many people dream of owning a chic boutique, a gourmet restaurant or another flashy, enviable small business, but the path to financial success can be found in going for the gold rather than the glamour, writes Rhonda Abrams. Greater competition in glamorous fields typically results in lower income, she writes, suggesting the pursuit of more mundane, less exciting industries that offer greater chances for financial success.
