Dispatcher training does not always lead to certification

Some states have standards for 9-1-1 telecommunicator training but lack the final step of a certification program for dispatchers. Jamison Peevyhouse, member of a NENA working group on certification, supports a national certification process to validate that standards are being met. "Anyone can go to class. But how do we validate that person knows what they're doing when we hire them," Peevyhouse asked.
