Google offers new APIs for Chrome Packaged Apps

Google is bolstering the back-end of Chrome Packaged Apps with a new set of application programming interfaces intended to keep developer interest in Web applications high. Google has added an In App Payments API with Google Wallet, an Identity API for authentication and a Native Messaging API to enable Chrome app communication with native apps, among others. "Some of the additional features will provide developers with more feature-rich options that native apps have been able to lord over the Web," Seth Rosenblatt writes.
