Kroger to swap out double coupons for everyday price cuts

Kroger locations in the company's central division will halt the practice of doubling discounts on manufacturer coupons at the end of the month, saying the incentive launched in the 1980s no longer generates enough shopper interest. In its place, the Cincinnati-based supermarket chain will cut prices on thousands of everyday items in categories including produce, natural foods, organics and general merchandise, spokesman John Elliott said.
