Kroger will spend $2.4B to acquire Harris Teeter

Kroger has agreed to pay $2.4 billion, or $49.38 per share, for Harris Teeter Supermarkets, as the grocery giant aims for expanded presence in the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic. Harris Teeter, which has 212 stores in eight states and the District of Columbia, will operate as a Kroger subsidiary and maintain its senior management.
