Obama calls for "restraint" by Egypt's military

A White House spokesman said this week it's not "in the best interest" of the U.S. to pull aid to Egypt, and called on the Egyptian military to exercise "maximum restraint" in the new uprising. About U.S. aid, press secretary Jay Carney said, "We are reviewing our obligations under the law, and we will be consulting with Congress about the way forward." U.S. law requires a halt to aid when an elected head of government has been deposed by the nation's military.
