Report: More hospitals, physicians switch to EMRs

More hospitals and physicians are switching to electronic medical records, with some of the biggest gains seen among rural hospitals, according to a report from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Still, few hospitals can share records to reduce duplication of services, and Michael Painter, a senior program officer with the foundation, says more must be done to use the technology to improve safety and quality.
