Report: Use of EMRs growing among hospitals, physicians

An increasing number of hospitals and physicians are switching to electronic medical records, with some of the biggest gains seen among rural hospitals, according to a report from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Still, few hospitals can share records to curb duplication of services, and Michael Painter, the foundation's senior program officer, says more must be done to use the technology to improve safety and quality.
