Researchers: Longevity increases disability risks, symptoms

Longevity can bring an increasing risk of disability and frequency of physical symptoms as people move toward the end of life, according to two studies in JAMA Internal Medicine. American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine board member Dr. Christine Ritchie of the University of California at San Francisco commented that a study of activity-limiting symptoms serves as a call for "better palliative care for community-dwelling older adults at the end of life and better research."
