Senate leaders express muted support for tax reform

Republican and Democratic Senate leaders expressed caution about the push to overhaul the U.S. tax code. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., noted "there are a lot of issues" that must be addressed. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., pointed to Democratic expectations that tax reform will boost revenue as an issue. This moderate tone comes as Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp, R-Mich., have started to reach out beyond Washington to sell their ideas about tax reform.
