Several plans aimed at boosting renewables funding falter in House

Several amendments aimed at increasing the federal budget for renewable energy under the 2014 energy and water bill were defeated in the House of Representatives. Among the rejected amendments were a plan by Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas, to divert $1.65 billion from an environmental cleanup fund to renewable-energy programs; a plan by Rep. Mark Takano, D-Calif., that would boost renewable-energy funding by $245 million; and a plan by Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Fla., to allocate $1.1 billion for renewable-energy programs.
