Statin therapy has few side effects, review finds

An analysis of data from 135 studies involving nearly 250,000 people showed that cholesterol-lowering statin drugs caused few serious side effects, and their health benefits significantly outweigh the risks. Among seven statins on the market, simvastatin and pravastatin showed the best safety profile, researchers found. The study appeared online in Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes.
