USDA faces lawsuit over country-of-origin meat labeling

The USDA is being sued by eight meat and livestock groups in the U.S. and Canada regarding rules on country-of-origin labeling. The industry says the rules have hurt Canadian farmers as the U.S. imports fewer cattle and pigs. The lawsuit argues that revisions prohibiting co-mingling of meat from different countries in the same package increase costs and further harm the industry.
