Venezuelan offer to Snowden highlights need for Keystone XL

The approval of TransCanada's Keystone XL pipeline makes more sense now following Venezuela's asylum offer to Edward Snowden, a former National Security Agency contractor who leaked information on secret U.S. surveillance programs, according to supporters of the pipeline. Such an offer highlights the capability of the pipeline to reduce crude imports from "OPEC countries like Venezuela who are often hostile towards the U.S. and rarely have our best interests in mind," said Rep. Lee Terry, R-Neb.
