Dulles commuter rail cost estimate runs well over original guess

Estimates for the Dulles Corridor Rapid Transit commuter rail extension in Northern Virginia have risen 60% above the original estimates. Cost estimates released by Dulles Transit Partners, a joint venture of Bechtel and Washington Group International, Boise on June 25 were $1.5 billion for the first 11 miles of the project. The entire 23-mile route was previously estimated at $1.45 billion.
