Dodd, Frank take different paths on Wall Street oversight

House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, D-Mass., and Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., are approaching legislative oversight of Wall Street in markedly different ways. While Frank has chosen "an aggressive, multipronged legislative strategy to expand housing, force changes at ... Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and increase transparency over executive compensation," Dodd has pressured banks and regulators to adopt consumer-friendly policies. The two men need to work in tandem, however, to get bills before President George W. Bush.
