With planes queued up on the ground and flying holding patterns in the air, traffic at JFK International Airport is an undeniable mess. The problems illustrate how fragile the aviation system has become at our busiest airports, according to an industry expert. The Air Transport Association last month asked the FAA to add more flight routes in the New York area.
