Free HPV vaccine program reduces cases of genital warts

The incidence of genital warts was reduced when girls and young women under age 26 in Australia were given the human papillomavirus vaccine Gardasil free of charge. Researchers said fewer cases of genital warts were found in both vaccinated women and their sexual partners, supporting the hypothesis that the vaccine helps prevent transmission of the disease to men.
