Milwaukee schools challenge judge's special-education order

A federal judge's order requiring Milwaukee schools to provide compensatory services for all students who did not receive appropriate special-education services is too broad, schools officials said this week in an appeal. Fulfilling the order to compensate all students the district failed to serve between 2000 and 2005 could hurt finances, said Rudolph M. Konrad, a Milwaukee deputy city attorney.
