Ohio may end budget impasse with slot machine agreement

Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland and lawmakers neared a deal on installing slot machines at the state's horse-racing tracks. The Columbus Dispatch reports that the agreement could entail installation of the video lottery terminals "via executive order, while lawmakers would approve some minimal legislative language addressing the issue." The Ohio legislature failed to meet a June 30 budget deadline due to legal wrangling over the slot machine measure.
