The ABA has been at the forefront of several initiatives aimed at improving the health of consumers. The association partnered with soda makers including Coca-Cola and PepsiCo to create the School Beverage Guidelines that replaced full-calorie drinks with lower-calorie alternatives. The ABA also launched the Clear on Calories initiative that standardized front-of-pack calorie labels for the beverage industry. "We think it's vitally important to be part of the solution, and we're actively talking about what the next things are or what the next commitment might be, and we're looking at all the elements of success that we talked about from the other programs and how do we apply that to something else," ABA president Susan Neely said.
