Antarctic glacier contains swamp-like waterways

A swamp-like structure of canals and waterways has been discovered under Thwaites Glacier in West Antarctica and scientists estimate the glacier will retreat a significant distance over the next two decades, resulting in a rise in sea levels across the globe. "We now understand both how the water system is organized and where that dynamic is playing itself out. Our challenge is to begin to understand the timing and processes that will be involved when that stability is breached," said study co-author Don Blankenship.
