CFPB among regulators proposing appraisal-requirement exemption

Six regulators, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, have proposed that three types of higher-priced mortgages be excluded from appraisal requirements under the Dodd-Frank Act. These mortgages are loans secured by existing manufactured homes, "streamlined" refinancing and loans worth $25,000 or less. Public comment is accepted until Sept. 9.
