Hamburg: FDA reaches out to small businesses in many ways

The FDA works with small businesses to boost their innovative capacity to craft new drugs and devices that improve public health and the economy, FDA Commissioner Dr. Margaret Hamburg writes. Reaching out to biomedical entrepreneurs is important because they have a unique and underappreciated role as well as unique needs in their dealings with the FDA, she writes. The FDA helps by waiving or limiting user fees for certain small businesses, conducting seminars and workshops, and communicating early during product reviews, Hamburg adds.
