Md. county official: Surety asks to interview subs, discuss recommended actions

A Virginia-based construction company hired to renovate a library in Montgomery County, Md., announced it will shut down its regional operations, prompting county officials to meet with the surety company that provided the 100% performance bond on the project. But the contractor said it plans to finish the project, which is more than halfway done. The surety will interview subcontractors before meeting again with the county to determine how to proceed with the project, officials said.
