Telmisartan, valsartan curb diabetes patients' heart risk

Telmisartan and valsartan were associated with a 15% and 14% reduced risk of hospitalization for myocardial infarction, stroke or heart failure in older diabetes patients, compared with irbesartan, a study in the Canadian Medical Association Journal indicated. Researchers found neither losartan nor candesartan helped cut patients' risk of cardiovascular events.
