Urban Airship says rich-media alerts engage consumers better

Urban Airship is adding rich-media in-application ads and push alerting to its platform. Tests during the London Olympics last summer showed a 10-fold increased response to the rich-media formats when advertising the movie "ParaNorman," for example. App alerts mimic "SMS without being as intrusive" but nonetheless threaten to "treat mobile as yet another broadcast platform," Steve Smith writes.
