HUD gives $4.2 billion for La. rebuilding; $1B to other Gulf states

The Department of Housing and Urban Development says it will pay $4.2 billion into Louisiana's "Road Home" program to help residents rebuild or sell houses severely damaged in Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Under the program, residents are paid up to $150,000 to rebuild or sell their homes. HUD also announced it will provide $1 billion for hurricane-related housing needs in Mississippi, Texas, Alabama and Florida.
