Ohio groceries introduce finger-scan discounts, payment system

Dorothy Lane Market has contracted with Pay By Touch to launch pay-by-finger discount scanning technology in its three Ohio stores. Customers receive a printout of customized product discounts by using the finger scan or by swiping a card and can pay through the system at check-out by debiting from a checking account. Bigg's, which operates 12 supermarkets in the Cincinnati area, introduced the system at two of its stores in October 2005 and plans to expand it to its other locations.
