South Korea's won wins week as biggest currency gainer

South Korea's currency gained 4.6% this week as the government pledged to fight inflation and the central bank discussed intervention to back the won. "Few market participants are willing to run counter to the government that remains so steadfast in stopping the dollar's ascent," said currency dealer Ko Yun Jin of Kookmin Bank in Seoul.
