Tougher controls on oil futures resisted

Wall Street firms, the trading industry and market operators are lobbying lawmakers in Washington with the hope of preventing legislation to impose tougher federal controls over oil futures trading. Lawmakers from both parties and in both chambers currently seem to favor a measured approach that would increase transparency in over-the-counter swaps markets, foreign boards of trade and trading based on commodity indices.
