Turf war: Celebrities vie for greenest home, yard

Two actors have kicked off a good-natured competition in their neighborhood to see who can have the greener house and yard. Science-show host Bill Nye brought in rain barrels, planted a vegetable garden and installed solar panels for both electricity and hot water at his home in the Studio City neighborhood of Los Angeles. Several doors down, Ed Begley Jr. has an AstroTurf lawn, a fence made from recycled milk cartons and trays of beer that kill snails without the use of pesticides.
