ConocoPhillips is urged to meet Alaska's gas needs first

Alaskan lawmakers have urged ConocoPhillips to help meet state's natural gas demand before exporting to Asia from its Cook Inlet site. The company has requested a federal permit so it can ship as much as 40 billion cubic feet of gas abroad from 2011 to 2013. ConocoPhillips said it seeks to fulfill Alaska's gas-supply requirements.
