Fluoxetine might benefit alcohol-dependent domestic abusers

Government researchers found that a combination of antidepressant fluoxetine, alcohol counseling and behavioral therapy reduced anger, irritability and aggression in alcoholic men with a history of domestic violence compared with only the latter two treatments. Fluoxetine, marketed under the brand-name drug Prozac, works by enhancing the action of serotonin in the body.
