Although advances in biotech might pave the way for medical discoveries and carbon-free fuel, the industry needs government oversight, biology pioneers George Church and Craig Venter said at a meeting of a presidential bioethics panel. "If you have a speed limit but no one enforcing it, you'll have people speeding. You need to proactively set up a radar system and surveil it," Church said.
