Analysis: Big portals see no gains in home page ads

Although display ads are showing big online gains, pricy home page buys at portals such as AOL and Yahoo were relatively flat in the second quarter, Macquerie analyst Ben Schachter said. Much of the action was generated by daily-deal websites such as Groupon and LivingSocial, not brand advertisers.
