Global food prices up as dispute over biofuels' role grows

Food prices worldwide increased 40% from the year before in June, according to the U.N.'s Food and Agriculture Organization, and advocacy group Oxfam says biofuels are to blame. "Biofuel mandates are creating an inflexible demand for feedstocks, which drives up food prices," the group said. The U.S. government, however, issued a report downplaying biofuels' role in the 2007-08 spike in food prices.
