Guardian boosts mobile presence with new Kindle app

The Guardian newspaper launched a new application for the Kindle e-reader as it prepares to wind down its print portfolio with the elimination in October of the paper's international edition. After a 14-day free trial, subscribers will be charged $9.99 per month, or 75 cents an issue, for the black-and-white Kindle version of the British paper and its Sunday installment, the Observer. The Kindle app is part of the Guardian's move into more wireless delivery methods, which currently account for 10% of the publication's digital traffic.
