Virtual schools cater to students' schedules, skill levels

Virtual schools are attracting students whose schedules make traditional school difficult as well as students who crave a learning environment more catered to their needs. Young actors and serious athletes complete classes online so they can work around other obligations. About 3,600 students take online classes through Riverside Virtual School in California, according to principal David Haglund. The content of many virtual courses at the school is modified based on assessments of each student's skill level.
