Charts show disparities in marijuana enforcement

Simple possession busts make up 97% of marijuana-related arrests, and arrests have soared by 193% in the past two decades. Use of cannabis has remained steady over that period, with little difference between black and white Americans' rates of drug use; still, charts show that minorities are far more likely to be arrested for using marijuana. "The racial disparity in arrest rates ... ought to shock the conscience of every American," writes Tim Dickinson.
