Freight rail program in Wis. allotted $52M in 2013-15 biennial budget

Wisconsin's 2013-15 biennial spending plan includes $52 million for the Freight Railroad Preservation Program, which is one of the state transportation department's two freight rail funding initiatives. Watco lobbied to boost funding for the FRPP through emphasizing the importance of job growth attributed to the rail industry. The state is home to more than 3,000 railroad employees, and a single rail job leads to 4.5 more jobs in the region, Watco said.
