Gastric bypass patients may redevelop diabetes following remission

About 35.1% of diabetes patients who attained remission following gastric bypass surgery redeveloped the disease within five years, according to a study in Obesity Surgery. Longer diabetes duration, insulin use and poor preoperative glycemic control were associated with a higher risk of diabetes relapse, researchers said.
